Bangui, Central African Republic - A woman dashes for safety, caught in the crossfire between Muslim militias and troops from Burundi. Despite the presence of peacekeeping forces from France and the African Union, violence in this country continues unchecked. The conflict began last March when a leader from the Seleka rebellion took over the presidency in a coup; those aligned with the rebels have been fighting with Christian militias since. The rebel leader has since stepped down and a new president, Catherine Samba-Panza, holds the office - for now. After Samba-Panza declared at ceremony earlier this week that she hoped to have the country safe in a month, a suspected rebel in the crowd was brutally murdered in front of peacekeepers and then set on fire.
